How to make a StudioTaboret for under $300

Image
A few weeks ago I was looking online for Studio Taborets and they seem to be very expensive. The cost of the one I want is $ 2,495 + Shipping. I realized that it is way over my budget. So I come out with this: Then I decided to build my own taboret. I started drawing a design or idea something like this For sure I don't want to make it exactly like the drawing but, to have an idea I started looking online for rolling carts with drawers and I found this one and, I like it! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Wood-Rolling-Drawers-6-Drawer/37837494 It cost $57.99 each and, I ordered two. These come in a box in pieces, I would need to build them. I was lucky to have the right tools at home and I did it.  After I build both rolling carts. I started looking for the top of my taboret.  One day while driving to work I saw a desk next to a warehouse with a FREE! sign on top. That desk will be the top I need it. DIY shadow box for still life painting

Image
I was thinking to buy a shadow box for painting and, I come out with an idea of making my own. I have some cardboard and white paper left from a box of posters I ordered last month and, I want to give some use to it. I design my own box. I know is not perfect but, definitely help me with my still life set up, to create some shadows and a clean background for my still lifes. I have attached the pictures where you can see the plan and how I constructed the box. Comments are welcome.

DAY # 30: "The perfect set"

Image
Today is the last day of the "Strada Easel Challenge". For my last painting of the challenge, I choose to paint a set of vases that have different and interesting shapes and colors. I got this set at the Thrift Store; I paid $1.48 per each one, that was a deal I think. I have selected each one carefully to match each other. Challenge completed!!! https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/elisa-arancibia/the-perfect-set/702813

DAY # 29: "Orange & grapes"

DAY # 27: "All about white"

Image
On day twenty-seven I decide to paint a subject that will be something difficult to paint for me. I grab a set of white dishes and set up trying to create a good balance in the composition. Painting white is somehow difficult because white is not white. White has the reflexion of the colors around them. And this is the final painting. https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/elisa-arancibia/all-about-white/702814

Image
Today I wasn't willing to paint, but the Challenge makes me do it. I was sitting at my desk thinking: What to paint? and I stared at the lamp, and said why not? I really like the reflexions on the metal and the light and shadows on it. So, I did it. I am not too happy with the results but at list, I tried  :)

Image
Today I grabbed a couple of items from my garage. I remember using those boots and the hat only one time. I am not a cowgirl. But definitely, like the outfit. https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/elisa-arancibia/cowgirl/701458

Image
On day sixteen I painted a little pot with a plant that I have in my room. The benefits of having this plant in your room are, for example, Sanseveria or the snake plant cleans air better than most other indoor plants as it has the ability to absorb excessive amounts of carbon monoxide. That is a great benefit coming from a little plant. Besides that, I like the contrasting colors that it has. https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/elisa-arancibia/sanseveria/701456

DAY # 13: "Nikon"

Image
I never paint a black object before. First of all, I was looking at my camera and said why not! I set my camera on my desk and put some lighting on the side and started to paint it. Was a little difficult to paint the different dark tones on the camera but I did it! https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/elisa-arancibia/nikon/701454
